Quince Ensemble: "Dust to Dust"
Quince Ensemble is a treble voice quartet aiming to change the paradigm of contemporary vocal chamber music. Liz Pearse (soprano), Kayleigh Butcher (mezzo soprano), Amanda DeBoer Bartlett (soprano), and Carrie Henneman Shaw (soprano) thrive on unique musical challenges and genre-bending repertoire. This performance is part of the free “New Music at Short North Stage” concert series. Seating is available on a first-come first-served basis and performances are recommended for ages 9 and older. -

Conductor John Morris Russell and the Pops present Peter Boyer’s poignant Ellis Island: The Dream of America, celebrating the historic American immigrant experience and the American dream. Innovative in its format, bringing elements of theater and multimedia, including historical images from the Ellis Island archives, performers share real stories of those arriving to America and the circumstances surrounding their journey. The program opens by showcasing the vibrancy of Cincinnati’s international communities, with choruses and dancers presenting cultural traditions from around the world. -

Like Beethoven’s Septet, these elements are married with virtuosic moments led by the first violinist and clarinetist. The Octet in F major is the largest of Schubert’s chamber works in instrumentation and duration. -

Conductor Katharina Wincor, who led the May Festival's 2022 production of Candide, returns to Music Hall and welcomes cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason for Shostakovich's raw and rhythmic first Cello Concerto. -
